There was a Lakota warrior named American Horse.
This is how he earned his name.
Painting was originaly in acrylic, when I started doing oils, I touched it up with oil, just because acrylic makes a painting so damn stiff, I had to loosen it up a bit.
I think its better, sorry cant show the old version to compare and get some opinions.
Just glancing at this picture for just one moment, and my blood is already pulsing rapidly. The raw orange color and faint hints of red truly bring out this scene from an epic battle. An unbelievable amount of detail is undertaken to craft the faces of both the men and the horses related to the subject. Even the musculature is bare, standing right out, and really making manifest the awesome flow of power throughout the entire scene. Again, this is an amazing deviation. Instant :fav:
Beautiful once again. I love your paintings. They have so much life and energy in them. I love the colors too. They definitely have that feel of a dry praire, bathed in the late afternoon sun. I see the white horse has at least a bit of Arab in him. Very nice.
Well, glad you like it, thanx for the comments.
Its 24/36
I actually did the acrylic about 4 years ago, and just now went back to it to add the oil work.
all togethere it probably was a couple of weeks work, maybe 3
cant remember exactly.
Ya, the white horse does have some arabian elements , true.
actually there is some historical reason for that because the horses that the spanish conquistadors brouht over were all barbs and arabs, thats it, no othere breeds. so all the mustangs that Indiands rode had barb and arab ancestors.
Anyhow, thats my history sermon for the day.
Sorry.
Thanx , for your comments, you seem to see what I was going for.
