This is an oil. 24x30
The title refers to an uncle of Stitting Bull's
whos name in its entirity was:
"Returns Again To Charge The Enemy".
This is a moment in the earning of that name,
hence the title and theme of this painting.

This is one of the best paintings I've seen in a while here on DA. It is absolutely gorgeous. It's got all...Colors and values, Contrasts and texture
Composition, Proportion, Styling, Movement... I can go on and on. Having said that, I was just wondering if the character that you used above is from the old days. The reason is that your reference on the horse may have had horseshoes but I don't think the days of yore had any metal horse shoes. I could be wrong. This is breathtaking work. Kudos to you!

Thanks, I'm glad you noticed those thing I was trying to balance. Interesting about the shoe's, your right, for sure, indians didnt shod.
But the horse could have beenoriginally from US cavelry. Also, I think I put shoes on more for artistic liscence, I wanted to show a bit of sparkle in the dust, its something i once noted as i was watching a horse riden and kicking up dist, so i tried to capture that.
But cool that you noticed.

What a life that must have been, it puts you right there, with him at your side the blood boils with excitement, ifin you were to find yer self on the other side, my guess it would be your bowels a boiling. Nicely done!
